10 JHS Students Named WNY Scholar Athletes

[Jamestown, NY] – Jamestown High School is proud to announce that 10 athletes on the school’s spring varsity sports teams qualified as All-Western New York Scholars, which are awarded by Section VI.  To qualify, each senior’s overall grade point must be an average of 90 or above for six semesters and be a starter or important reserve.
JHS’ All-WNY Spring Scholar Athletes were:
Henry Malarkey – Winner –  Boys Tennis
Andrew Pumford- Winner – Andrew Pumford – Baseball
Jonathan Sandstrom – Winner – Baseball
Matthew Blakey, Honorable Mention – Boys Track & Field
Taylor Brightman – Honorable Mention – Softball
Cory Falkowski – Honorable Mention – Baseball
Ethan Glatz – Honorable Mention – Boys Tennis
Matthew Hill – Honarable Mention – Baseball
Hanny Qadri – Honorable Mention – Boys Tennis
Maverick Tomczak – Honorable Mention – Baseball
“Being named to the All-Western New York Academic Team is a special honor,” said JPS Athletic Director Ben Drake. “These young men and women truly epitomize what the term, student-athlete, means. Not only are they great athletes, but these seniors also maintained an overall grade point average of 90% or higher during their four years at JHS. They are great role models for our younger athletes and we are all very proud of them.”
