Artists and Organizations Invited to Apply for United Arts Appeal Grants

“Your support for the Arts in our county is so appreciated and benefits our communities endlessly!” was the enthusiastic report of one of last year’s recipients of a United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County (UAA) grant.

The UAA is now accepting applications from Chautauqua County artists and organizations for its 2018 Projects Pool Grants Program.

“Every year a portion of the funds raised through the United Arts Appeal’s fund drive is awarded to individual artists and artistic projects,” explained UAA President Julie Newell. “Our purpose is to assist the careers of working artists and to enhance the cultural life of Chautauqua County.”

An artist who has been a Chautauqua County resident for at least one year and works in any artistic discipline – including but not limited to crafts, dance, film, fiction, poetry, printmaking, sculpture, painting, video, play writing, performance, music composition and photography – may apply for a Projects Pool grant. Awards are based on creative excellence and are to be used for artistic development.

Eligible organizations must have non-profit status and may include libraries, municipalities, churches, and other community groups.

Grants up to $500 will be awarded.

Applications are submitted online and must be received by midnight on Sunday, April 15, 2018.  All applications are screened for eligibility and fulfillment of application requirements. An advisory panel of Chautauqua County residents who are knowledgeable in the arts reviews applications and presents funding recommendations to the United Arts Appeal board for approval.

Artists and community organizations interested in applying for funding through the UAA’s Projects Pool Grants Program can obtain application information and funding criteria online at the Grants page at UnitedArtsAppeal.org.
